Political Commentator

Mthunzi's vast experience in multilateral structures such as the ILO, part of the UN family, makes him one of the foremost authorities on multilateral global matters. In 2017 he became the first African since the ILO was formed in 1919 to be elected Vice Chairman for all employers in the world. As Vice President of the IOE from 2017 to 2021, including the COVID period, he was the first African to hold this role since the organisation was formed in 1920. He also chaired the IOE's Policy Working Group on Business and Human Rights, participating at the highest level of the UN, and collaborated with, among others, Ms Michelle Bachelet, the former and first female President of Chile, while she headed the OHCHR (Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights).
